Bookipro announced its Spoki integration Sept. 1, 2026, to automate WhatsApp messages linked to its property management system (PMS).
As distribution context, 73% of 1,598 Spanish respondents who had booked accommodation online reported using Booking.com in the past 12 months, according to Statista Consumer Insights. This is a share of surveyed people, rather than sales.

Assess the channel alongside distribution costs
Bookipro PMS, S.L. , with tax identifier B67427559 and an address in Barcelona, is the owner identified in its legal notice. Its proposition enters a business where occupying the room and retaining the relationship with its occupant are different objectives.
The announcement describes booking confirmations, arrival instructions and review requests. It publishes no customer results or additional direct bookings. Studying that possible commercial use requires linking each message to a current booking and later outcome, alongside handling the conversation it generates.
Among Spanish hotels on its platform, SiteMinder ranked hotel websites second by revenue in 2025, behind Booking.com. It does not disclose the Spanish sample size; this is a commercial ranking, rather than a national market share.
A direct booking can also consume discounts, advertising, payment processing and staff time. Any distribution saving needs to be calculated from the actual contract alongside those costs. If a traveller pays less for a stay they would have booked anyway, increasing the direct-sales proportion could reduce the hotel’s contribution.
Separate prices, nights sold and commercial outcomes
Spain’s INE recorded more than 48.7 million overnight stays in August 2026 and average income of €166.9 per occupied room. Annual changes show room income growing faster than overnight stays. These provisional figures were released on 22 September.

A revenue increase after messaging can coincide with higher rates or greater availability. The proposed assessment needs to separate prices, completed stays and channel costs using comparable guests and periods. National August figures provide context; they cannot estimate WhatsApp's effect at one property.
Recognize booking changes before sending messages
SiteMinder reported average lead time of 39.17 days and cancellations of 24.14% for Spain in 2025. These are not WhatsApp effects or necessarily lost income: a cancelled room can be resold.
Dates can change or a booking can be canceled before arrival. A flow should use the current state before sending instructions to avoid contact a guest no longer needs. Assessing whether a useful answer helps a stay proceed requires following the booking through completion and accounting for handling time.
The table organises possible decisions for an accommodation business. It is El Acelerador’s analytical framework, rather than a description of functions verified in a Bookipro–Spoki installation.
| Moment | Commercial decision | Required data | Outcome that matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Before arrival | Resolve a question preventing completion of the stay | Current reservation and enquiry context | Completed stay; handling time |
| During the stay | Offer a relevant service where appropriate | Availability, price and confirmed purchase | Net contribution from the service after costs |
| After departure | Propose a relevant next stay | Identity, permission, season and offer | Completed direct booking; incremental margin |
A familiar channel needs a relevant offer
In a different population, GWI identified WhatsApp as the favourite social platform of 43.1% of Spanish internet users aged 16–64 in Q3 2025; Statista reports the finding. This measures preference, rather than advertising reach, commercial permission or the behaviour of overseas guests.

A return offer should respond to the reason for travel and an actual accommodation opportunity. Stay history can guide selection but does not establish a new need. Commercial assessment should observe whether the offer produces a completed stay and its contribution after discounts and handling.
The commercial link needs mobile-readable dates, availability and terms. A property can retain the campaign identifier through booking and the completed stay. This is proposed tracking: the announcement does not establish that a particular Bookipro and Spoki installation preserves the entire journey.
Customer relationship management (CRM) records need identity and preferences to recognize a new booking by the same person. A phone can be shared among travelers or change over time. Teams should agree which record links the conversation and stay before using that relationship to attribute purchases.
Account for messages and permission
WhatsApp distinguishes marketing and utility messages; its pricing information links billing to delivered messages, category and market. An offer to return should not be treated as a routine service instruction. The budget needs the applicable rates and the provider’s price.
WhatsApp’s marketing guide requires prior permission to receive messages from the business and clarifies that it need not be WhatsApp-specific. The flow needs to record that permission, respect guest preferences and allow promotional messages to stop. An operational conversation should not automatically become a commercial sequence.
Costs include who answers enquiries and how much time they need. A brand can observe workload and opt-outs alongside sales. More interactions represent an operating improvement only if the team can resolve them with the necessary context and capacity.
Observe additional contribution per eligible guest
The most useful comparison would involve eligible guests contacted and a comparable group without the commercial action, while maintaining necessary service in both. Where feasible, random assignment by person prevents one traveller’s reservations from falling into opposing groups. The outcome is the completed stay, with the same follow-up period; booking and then cancelling is not a return.
The assessment must distinguish two effects. One is creating a stay that would not otherwise have happened. The other is moving a stay that would have arrived through an intermediary to the direct channel. Both can have value, but require different calculations. For the second, avoided distribution charges and the cost of securing the sale matter; for the first, it is the additional stay’s net contribution.
The primary metric is average net contribution per eligible guest assigned to each group, including those who do not book. Only additional programme costs not already accounted for are deducted from the difference between groups. If a discount or commission is already included in a stay’s contribution, it is not deducted again. Software, messages and handling must be allocated consistently. Open rate helps diagnose the flow; it cannot replace the calculation. Without an adequate comparison, the result should be reported as an association.
Before buying, a hotel can ask to follow an actual reservation from its update through messaging and the economic outcome, including cancellations. That would reveal which data systems exchange and which work remains with staff. Assessing the announced capabilities requires that detail about their use.
The announcement presents Spoki, but its activation call mentions UpMarket; the marketplace separates them. That discrepancy prevents recommending an activation procedure without clarification from the provider.
The reservation and the person need separate records
The property management system contributes information about the stay: who booked, the dates and the current state of the transaction. The messaging channel contributes a way to answer a question with fewer steps. That combination can be useful even when it produces no additional purchase. Sending the right access instructions removes a specific uncertainty for a guest. A subsequent booking requires a separate reason to travel, an available offer and a decision that the integration cannot assume will follow automatically from a successful conversation.
Marketing teams need to distinguish the person who made the reservation from the person who will occupy the accommodation. A shared trip, a corporate booking or a purchase made by a relative may involve different identities. The telephone number entered during the transaction also does not establish who agreed to promotional communication. This is a proposed control for the accommodation business, rather than a capability that the announcement automatically proves Spoki provides. Without that distinction, apparent personalisation can send information about a stay to the wrong person.
The same caution applies to the reason for travel. A business visit and a family holiday need not lead to the same return calendar. Booking history can inform a hypothesis, but it does not establish future demand as a fact. For a later offer, the team would need to define what makes the contact relevant and how someone leaves the sequence when their preferences change. The commercial value comes from that selection, rather than simply increasing contact frequency or treating every former guest as a permanently active prospect.
What the Spanish figures actually establish
The Statista Consumer Insights survey consulted covers July 2024 to June 2025. Its 1,598 respondents were 18 to 64 and had booked hotels, holiday apartments or holiday houses online in the previous twelve months. Alongside the 73% who named Booking.com, 30% named Airbnb. Respondents could choose several answers. The percentages cannot be added to calculate market share, and the difference cannot be interpreted as reservations a hotel could recover through WhatsApp. Statista dataset .
This is declared provider reach among Spanish residents meeting the survey's eligibility filter. By definition, it does not include every international traveller visiting Spain, and it does not allocate tourism expenditure between distribution channels. Someone who used two providers can appear in both proportions. For a hotel operator, it helps establish that an intermediary is present in customers' purchasing decisions. Turning it into a savings promise would require the establishment's actual contracts, reservations and distribution costs, rather than a conversion formula applied to a population survey.
WhatsApp familiarity also needs an explicit population. The CNMC reported habitual use by 94.6% of people accessing the internet at least weekly in the fourth quarter of 2025. That Household Panel wave covered 5,846 households and 8,745 individuals. This measures channel use, not willingness to receive hotel messages, campaign readership or probability of booking. It does not specifically measure guests or establish coverage among foreign visitors. The sample and reference period matter because replacing that population with all people in Spain would change the claim. CNMC panel .
Comparing that figure with the 43.1% preference measure reported by Statista does not reveal a contradiction. One question asks about habitual use and the other about a favourite platform. Ages and survey populations also differ. The defensible commercial reading is that many eligible internet users in Spain are familiar with the channel. Willingness to receive an offer from a particular accommodation business remains a different question. Permission and observed behaviour would need to answer it; a general channel survey cannot do that work for an individual business.
A delivered confirmation can still leave a question open
The announcement identifies confirmations, arrival instructions and requests for reviews. Understanding their value requires looking at the problem each message is supposed to solve. A confirmation helps the guest recognise the transaction. Instructions support a particular moment of the trip. A review request follows the experience. Combining them into a single response total would hide which stage is working. A useful assessment retains the stage and reservation status instead of rewarding every conversation equally or assuming that more messages necessarily indicate a better guest experience.
Human support is part of that journey. A guest may reply to instructions with a problem that requires property-specific information, rather than another scheduled response. If nobody owns the conversation, automating the opening contact can increase the number of unresolved questions. Time to a useful answer, resolution and the need to contact the business again are proposed diagnostic measures. They are not published product outcomes. They also cannot replace an assessment of the completed stay, because answering quickly and delivering an appropriate service are different achievements.
Review requests need their own interpretation. A favourable review may inform future buyers, but the number of requests sent does not measure that effect. A property could track how many people receive the invitation, how many reach its intended destination and how many leave a review during a consistent observation period. Prior satisfaction will affect those decisions. An association between messaging and better ratings would not show that the message improved the stay. It would not support attributing later bookings to the message without further evidence either.
The distinction also affects operational priorities. When arrival questions account for much of the workload, the team needs evidence that the instructions address those questions. When guests understand arrival but struggle with a change in the reservation, sending the same information more often will not address the problem. Segmenting the observed reasons for contact can guide a revision of the communication. This is an analytical proposal for evaluating the announced integration, not a statement that Bookipro or Spoki publishes such a breakdown for its customers.
Follow the cost through to the completed stay
A return-booking programme needs a budget for selecting recipients, preparing the offer, paying for messages and handling replies. A discount, when offered, and reservation-processing costs also belong in the account. Some expenses are fixed for the observation period; others change with contacts or stays. Separating them helps explain what expansion would cost. Bookipro's announcement does not quantify the applicable commercial tariff. The assessment needs a current contractual quotation, rather than a general messaging price drawn from another market or a comparison that omits provider charges.
More direct reservations can hide several simultaneous changes. The same guest might have bought anyway, chosen a different date or shifted an already planned reservation away from an intermediary. Each situation has a different economic interpretation. An additional stay incurs variable accommodation costs. A shifted booking primarily changes distribution expenses. Counting both as entirely new revenue would overstate the result and turn a change in channel mix into an unproven expansion of demand. The account needs to preserve the distinction even if the dashboard combines the bookings.
The observation period should respect the gap between booking and arrival. SiteMinder's average provides context but does not establish the timetable for an individual property. Comparing a group with completed stays against another with reservations still subject to cancellation favours the first. Cohorts should close under a common rule, include cancellations and recognise rooms sold again. That preserves the relationship's net economic outcome and avoids assigning a complete revenue loss to a cancelled booking that was later replaced by another guest.
These costs also affect the interpretation of a successful conversation. A guest who asks several questions before buying may be commercially valuable, but the time needed to answer belongs to that booking's acquisition or service cost. A programme that attracts more such conversations needs corresponding capacity. Reporting the resulting revenue without support expenditure makes the channel look cheaper than it is. The announcement supplies no labour-cost comparison, so that part of the account remains a property-level measurement requirement rather than an observed benefit.
What a supplier demonstration would need to clarify
A useful demonstration should show which information moves from the property management system to messaging, when it updates and what happens if the guest changes dates. It should also clarify who can consult the history and how a problem is resolved. These purchasing questions follow from the announced mechanism. They do not establish that the product lacks the answers. The reviewed publication simply does not document a particular installation in enough detail to verify the complete exchange, its timing and the division of responsibilities between systems and staff.
The mismatch between Spoki in the announcement and UpMarket in its activation invitation matters at that point. They appear as separate entries in Bookipro's marketplace. A reader can understand the commercial purpose without receiving a reliable instruction about which connector to activate. Until the supplier clarifies that instruction, an operational recommendation should remain pending. This revision has not identified a profitability measurement that would resolve the ambiguity or justify recommending a purchase on the basis of demonstrated customer results.
The property's practical consequence begins with a reservation whose dates have changed: messaging must follow its current state so a return offer does not contradict the contracted service. Maintaining that continuity costs updating, support and delivery. Commercial value is decided later through a completed stay and its net contribution, separating added demand from a booking simply shifted between channels. A smoother conversation does not remove that account. It enables the hotel to calculate it around a relationship that retains the relevant reservation context.
