Selecting “Other” can reveal a question that the remaining participants do not need to answer. Easypromos documents that use for conditional fields added to its registration form in the release dated Oct. 6, 2026.

The change turns the first response into a decision about effort requested afterwards. Commercial value depends on the additional question resolving something useful for participation or handling the contact. Hiding fields is insufficient: a promotion can generate more registrations while retaining less useful information, or collect information nobody uses while consuming part of the demand the business already paid to attract.

The Easypromos release supports conditions based on birth dates, dropdown lists and single-choice options. It applies to Basic, Premium and White Label promotions exclusively within the registration form. No conversion results demonstrate automatic acquisition improvement. This analysis examines the relationship between a response, the following question and the eventual use of the information rather than assuming visibility controls create commercial value alone.

A response opens a need rather than unlimited questioning

The Other option has a precise function: recognising that displayed alternatives do not adequately describe the participant's situation. An additional field can clarify that answer. Turning it into a broad block of general questions adds work without resolving why the person fell outside the initial options. The branch needs to explain the exception rather than become an invitation to collect every potentially interesting detail about someone entering a promotion.

This has a commercial consequence. Incomplete classification can direct a contact toward the wrong follow-up. A specific clarification can identify the declared need. The added question earns its place when it changes interpretation or a later action. Asking for more detail merely because the feature supports it adds participation and information-management costs without establishing that the resulting response improves a relevant decision.

Later usefulness requires distinguishing a clear response from a merely completed field. In the Ascend2 survey carried by Statista, 35% of marketing decision-makers cited lead generation among the greatest benefits of improving data; 33% named decisions. These are perceptions from a mixed B2B and B2C panel that does not evaluate Easypromos. For the Other branch, the specific decision is whether clarification avoids directing a contact towards an offer their first response did not describe.

Birth date supplies another condition. The source illustrates guardian information appearing according to declared age. This is a technical example of showing a question from an earlier response, not a conclusion about legal conditions for every promotion. Participation rules and required information must continue to correspond to the particular competition and its documentation, rather than treating a visibility feature as a substitute for deciding those conditions.

A visible field and necessary information do not always coincide

The general registration tutorial documents required and optional fields, identifying references and help text. These preserve purpose and meaning. An optional question left empty should not be interpreted as a negative preference: the person may not want to answer or may lack sufficient information. The record should retain that uncertainty instead of translating every missing value into a convenient segment label.

Conditional branching introduces another meaning for an empty value: the question may never have appeared. Combining that situation with deliberate non-response reduces exported information's usefulness. Understanding an answer requires knowing whether the person encountered the question and which condition revealed it. A final list of values does not necessarily explain why a particular contact lacks a recorded response to an apparently common field.

The tutorial adds a distinction about compulsory answers. Its dedicated country field becomes required when enabled, while a dropdown lets the administrator choose whether an answer is mandatory. Both may display country-related options, but they represent different registration decisions. Selecting a control by appearance and interpreting every empty value as abandonment would lose that difference. When a promotion needs location information, the record should retain which object was requested and under what requirement. That context also explains why two participants can encounter different obligations before completing the same registration form.

Collecting information for participation and later using it in advertising are different decisions. IAB Europe and Kantar asked people across 12 European markets how they would feel about several advertising uses if they had agreed to them. Opposition varied by information type. The study does not measure promotion forms or authorize particular uses. Its editorial consequence is to explain why each item is requested while retaining the distinction between meeting a competition condition and constructing a commercial profile.

Digital skills describe a varied audience

For context, Spain's INE recorded basic or advanced digital skills among 66.5% of people aged 16 to 74 in 2025, and low or lower skills among 29.8% . The indicator combines activities and knowledge under Eurostat methods. The three-stage stratified household survey had a theoretical sample of 26,862 dwellings, with collection between March and July 2025.

A branch can simplify visible content while increasing what someone needs to understand. When another question appears after a selection, the person needs to recognise its relationship with the earlier response. Easypromos' documented help text has a concrete role: explaining why information is requested and what the answer describes, rather than requiring participants to infer the purpose from field appearance alone.

Keys preserve the distinction between display and storage

The tutorial supports linking visible options with keys used by other systems. People see understandable responses while the application retains an integration reference. This is useful when labels change language or wording if the key preserves the same meaning. A technical code should not merge different options into one category without an explicit decision about the information the following commercial process actually needs.

When information reaches a CRM, the field reference identifies provenance without replacing the business definition. A salesperson needs to know which question produced the answer and which condition made it appear. A perfectly imported field can be unhelpful if the first conversation repeats the same clarification because its context disappeared during transfer. The cost then survives despite apparent success of the technical connection.

Changing an answer can change the meaning of later ones

Someone can select Other, write a clarification and then choose another option. The journey needs to distinguish the current answer from information entered in an earlier branch. The release describes conditional visibility but does not detail every retention rule after branch changes. Commercial interpretation must preserve that distinction before saved information determines a segment or follow-up based on a selection the person no longer expresses.

Hiding a field does not establish that its earlier answer ceased to exist in the record. Nor does it prove deletion. Visibility, storage and currency are different states that can coincide or diverge under configuration. Without the distinction, an old answer can determine communication no longer appropriate to the final selection. The customer may have corrected the form while the later marketing process still acts on the abandoned response.

Completion and qualification answer different questions

A completion rate describes who finished a journey under its definition. Data quality describes what useful information remained. An additional question can reduce the former and improve the latter; an unnecessary one can worsen both. Distinguishing those cases requires connecting the answer with a concrete function within participation or later commercial communication, rather than assuming a longer record is automatically better qualified.

At Easypromos, conditional fields change which question appears after a declaration. The economic criterion is retaining a question that enables participation or a better-informed relationship and removing one that merely adds work. Each branch improves the form when it performs that function: requesting less from someone needing no further explanation and preserving a useful clarification from someone whose situation genuinely requires it.
