The $300,000 budget Novastone Capital Advisors describes for its Executive Search program funds transaction execution, not the purchase of the company. Its public explanation separates those uses of money. That distinction should govern how a route into business ownership is presented.
The figure is an illustrative US budget, conditional on an approved letter of intent and definitive program documents. It includes a $50,000 executive commitment and $250,000 from NCA or sponsored capital. It is neither Spanish pricing nor guaranteed acquisition financing.
The amount has commercial force because it makes a difficult ambition tangible: moving from managing for another owner to buying and leading a company. But the figure loses its usefulness if a prospective participant cannot distinguish funding the preparatory work, covering the transaction process and paying the seller.
Two routes sell different commitments
The program comparison identifies two points of full-time commitment. Executive Search allows participants to begin alongside their current professional activity and requires full-time work after an approved letter of intent. Operator-Led Search starts with a full-time search.
The latter provides for up to 24 months of searching after search funding. Its specific page warns that Executive Search amounts and economic terms apply only to that program. Combining both offers into a single ownership promise would remove the decision the customer needs to make.
For NCA, organizing the conversation around that commitment allows a relevant offer to be explained before discussing sectors and transactions. Someone who needs to preserve income while searching has a different question from someone able to devote all their time. That difference affects the timetable and the effort available to find owners willing to sell.
Sources used to pay for an acquisition belong to another conversation. In CMS and Mergermarket’s 2024 study published by Statista, 25% of executives ranked private equity first among expected financing sources for the following twelve months and 23% cash reserves. These are historical expectations for European transactions, rather than capital available today to NCA. Their use here is to organize the question a preparatory budget leaves unanswered: who will ultimately provide purchase money, and under which conditions.

The seller also needs to understand who is at the table
An acquisition requires another commercial conversation: an owner must decide whether to disclose business information and negotiate a transition. A generic presentation about available capital offers less than an explanation of the business sought, operational continuity and the steps required to confirm financing.
The operator needs an acquisition thesis specific enough to recognize compatible companies and reject the others. Sector, geography and commercial characteristics should connect the operator’s experience with the reason for selling. A poorly chosen opportunity consumes meetings, documentation and diligence before any purchase occurs.
The thesis also needs to explain the economic reason for acquiring. In the same 2024 research, digitalization led first choices at 17%, while turnaround opportunities and undervalued targets each received 14%. The chart selects five reasons, rather than describing NCA transactions or seller outcomes. That variety requires specifying the operator capabilities that can execute the improvement justifying the search for that business.

Initial inquiry volume therefore cannot establish the quality of acquisition activity. Economic progress consists of conversations in which both parties understand the commitment and there is a suitable business to examine. More contacts without that fit can increase work without bringing an acquisition closer.
Effective advertising for this model explains the next step and its cost: the time committed, the money contributed and the decision still outstanding. Business ownership becomes credible when participants can distinguish financing their journey from paying for the company they intend to buy.
