GRC Media offers newspapers a route into new commercial activities without paying up front: the company covers project costs and operations. The publisher contributes something absent from that initial invoice, its relationship with readers. Expanding this business depends on being able to explain what is recommended, why it is recommended and how the intermediary is paid.
The Stockholm company lists on its website partnerships with elEconomista.es and 20minutos.es to promote loans, cards, bank accounts, trading and crypto. It also identifies projects with Süddeutsche.de, Ekstrabladet.dk and Bold.dk, covering different categories by country. That combination makes matching each offer to the publisher’s audience a central commercial decision.
The argument is specific: GRC’s growth should rest on commercial pages that help readers choose and on outcomes advertisers accept as valid business. A visit may generate a payable click; a useful comparison may support a relationship the newspaper wants to renew. Those are different economic horizons.
Print explains the pressure, but the business already mixes channels
The InfoAdex series compiled by Statista puts advertising spending in Spanish print newspapers at EUR 511.8 million in 2019 and EUR 337.6 million in 2025. The difference is EUR 174.2 million in current prices. The path includes a small recovery in 2022; it does not describe an identical decline every year.

The original InfoAdex 2026 study adds the other part of the picture: in 2025, daily and Sunday newspapers attracted EUR 412.5 million in digital advertising, compared with EUR 337.6 million in the non-digital component. The combined figure was EUR 750.1 million. Print’s contraction helps explain the search for other sources, but does not show that all newspaper advertising is disappearing.
For an affiliate initiative, that distinction changes the sales criterion. The relevant comparison is the additional income a section leaves after servicing it and considering alternative uses of its space. If it displaces another profitable activity, that value is part of the economic cost even when the publisher does not finance the launch.
Without an initial outlay, the proof is what gets paid later
GRC says it covers project-related costs and manages operations. Its website does not disclose the revenue split or the economic conditions of individual agreements. The appeal of that entry point is clear: a newspaper can try an activity before building a dedicated team or advancing the project budget.
The commercial proof needs to follow the outcome through to advertiser acceptance. In a loan comparison, submitting a form and obtaining financing are different events. For a card, applying, receiving approval and starting to use it are also distinct. The arrangement may pay for any of these milestones; the contract and the report need to identify the same one.
This makes it possible to order expansion by category. A page producing many applications may leave little income if a large share fails to meet product requirements. A smaller audience, with access conditions explained clearly, may send fewer contacts and produce more accepted transactions. Click volume alone does not decide which deserves expansion.
A renewal report should distinguish outcomes submitted, accepted and rejected, and the amount ultimately settled, explaining the differences. This is a proposal for business oversight, not a description of GRC’s internal systems. It makes negotiation with the advertiser more concrete and prevents a forecast sold to the publisher from being mistaken for cash collected.
Reader trust differs across countries
The Digital News Report 2026 puts the share of surveyed adults in Spain who say they trust most news most of the time at 33%. The same measure reaches 46% in Germany and 55% in Denmark. These are countries where GRC identifies publisher relationships; the percentages describe the news environment, rather than the reputation of those partnerships.

YouGov online survey, mid-January to late February 2026, adults aged 18 and older; approximately 2,000 participants per market, using quotas and weighting. Differences of 2 percentage points or less require particular caution.

The chart cannot calculate how much a news brand will raise conversion. It does require separating a publisher’s recognition from the specific trust needed to compare an account or a loan. Familiarity may bring a reader to the page; clear conditions determine whether that reader has enough information to proceed.
The publisher also needs to retain control over that experience. A visible commercial label, identification of the section’s operator and an explanation of how remuneration affects selection allow a recommendation to be assessed before the reader leaves for the advertiser. A corrections policy and complaints channel provide identifiable responsibility when product conditions change.
A repeatable format explains the choice
The most defensible unit of expansion is a comparison that can be kept current. For bank accounts, it can separate fees, linked-product requirements and promotion duration. For loans, it can explain total cost and access conditions using comparable criteria. The content needs to show which options it covers and what falls outside it, without presenting a commercial selection as the entire market.
Repeating that format in another newspaper requires revisiting the audience and available products. Translating a page while keeping its assumptions preserves any mismatch. Operations add value by maintaining a verifiable structure while adapting the conditions that change the reader’s actual decision.
GRC can make initial financing an effective entry point. The argument for opening the next section is more demanding: accepted and collected revenue, understandable conditions and an experience the newspaper can defend to its readers. That proof makes the partnership renewable and places an economic limit on growth through the accumulation of pages alone.
