The company describes a freemium model and says its sweepstakes promote Gold Coin sales. It also says no purchase is necessary to participate. VGW's own explanation establishes the commercial connection between the two mechanisms; understanding their economic consequences requires examining what each balance represents. VGW FAQ

## Sales and prizes belong to different relationships

The April 7, 2026, terms for its Global Poker platform distinguish Gold Coins with no monetary or prize redemption value from Sweeps Coins that cannot be purchased.

The March 18 rules assign a prize value of one dollar to each won Sweeps Coin eligible for redemption. They set a $50 minimum and require verification of eligibility and the result. A number displayed in an account therefore does not automatically equal available cash. Global Poker rules, clauses 4.4, 5.1 and 6.5

Clause 2.2 separates funds equal to prizes left unredeemed from the business account, without guaranteeing payment in insolvency. Global Poker terms, clause 2.2

The economic interpretation emerging from these documents distinguishes the sale of a virtual currency from the obligation associated with a prize. A currency balance with no redemption value does not represent the same cash exposure as an outstanding prize. Adding both together as gaming activity may describe interaction within the product, but removes the information needed to understand the money.

Subtracting prizes from purchases and calling the result revenue would also be insufficient. Evaluating that calculation would require financial statements and accounting policies identifying revenue recognition, costs and liabilities. The terms describe commitments; they do not quantify VGW's sales, margin or funds actually segregated.

## The product's map differs from the licensed casino market

Geography creates another distinction. The March rules exclude 14 states from the promotion, including Michigan and New Jersey. Global Poker rules, clause 1.1 The April terms exclude Michigan from standard and promotional play; New Jersey appears among the additional promotional exclusions. Global Poker terms, clause 3.1

These are published restrictions for that product and those versions. They do not independently establish VGW's legal position in each state. They do show why a national gaming revenue figure cannot adequately describe its economic scope.

Statista's series for licensed iGaming in 2025 records $3.46 billion for Pennsylvania, $3.09 billion for Michigan and $2.91 billion for New Jersey. Connecticut records $707.5 million; West Virginia, $375.5 million; Delaware, $132.5 million, and Rhode Island, $58 million. The stated source is the American Gaming Association's May 2026 report. Statista: iGaming revenue by state

The data behind the story

### Regulated iGaming in seven states: context, not VGW revenue

Regulated online casino and poker revenue in 2025, from AGA and Statista. The comparator's size does not establish VGW's addressable market.

__Regulated iGaming in seven states: context, not VGW revenue (million USD)__
| Category | Regulated revenue |
| ------------- | ------------------- |
| Pennsylvania | 3,460.0 million USD |
| Michigan | 3,090.0 million USD |
| New Jersey | 2,910.0 million USD |
| Connecticut | 707.5 million USD |
| West Virginia | 375.5 million USD |
| Delaware | 132.5 million USD |
| Rhode Island | 58.0 million USD |

The contrast establishes the comparison's boundary: two of the three largest licensed markets are excluded from Global Poker's promotion in the documents examined. Those figures are neither VGW sales nor a denominator for calculating its market share. Sharing a digital channel does not turn products with different boundaries into one measurable category.

## The digital channel does not resolve the comparison

Another Statista series assigns 65.5% of 2025 U.S. licensed commercial gaming revenue to physical channels and 34.5% to online channels, using AGA's February 2026 release. That split combines licensed commercial gaming categories; the online share does not represent internet casinos alone or VGW's business. Statista: land-based and online revenue

The data behind the story

### U.S. regulated commercial market: 2025 revenue by channel

The regulated commercial market's distribution provides context for the economic weight of digital channels.

 Share of commercial revenue

Tap or hover for details. All values are also available in the data table.

Expand notesCollapse notes

**Source:** Statista

AGA's February 2026 reference, published by Statista on March 5\. The commercial market includes casinos and sports betting; online does not mean online casinos alone. This is regulated-market context, not VGW's revenue mix or the split between Gold Coins and Sweeps Coins.

Explore the data table

Scroll left or right to see all columns

__U.S. regulated commercial market: 2025 revenue by channel (%)__
| Category | Share of commercial revenue |
| ---------- | --------------------------- |
| Land-based | 65.5% |
| Online | 34.5% |

The figure places slightly more than a third of that market in digital channels. Its usefulness ends where the measured population changes: the distribution of licensed revenue between channels does not reveal the relationship between VGW's Gold Coin sales and prizes. An online interface is a product characteristic, not an accounting equivalence.

The outstanding question at VGW is how much money corresponds to digital currency sales and how much to outstanding prizes, under which conditions and in which territories. That distinction allows a precise discussion of its economics. The size of the licensed market does not supply the answer.
