# Syntax: the AI agent changes what a customer buys in security

The company includes Foundation security in hosting and offers ERP-connected agents. Expanding the relationship requires defined actions, coverage and responsibilities.

Syntax includes its Foundation security tier in every hosting engagement . It also offers agents able to read, reason and act against enterprise systems. The intersection creates a commercial decision: which protection has already been purchased, and what changes when AI can execute an action?

In its enterprise agent catalog , the company presents designs for processes including production, procurement, finance and human resources across SAP, JD Edwards and Oracle E-Business Suite. Examples are described as illustrative and results depend on the environment. That qualification matters: a working demonstration does not establish the operating boundaries of a particular deployment.

The opportunity to expand accounts lies in making that change of scope verifiable. A customer may buy protected infrastructure and later need a different control for an agent that retrieves information or prepares transactions. Explaining the distinction avoids selling a broad security label when the buyer needs to understand actions, permissions and responsibilities.

## Permission turns an answer into a business decision

Checking an invoice’s status, preparing a payment draft and ordering execution involve different commitments. The first raises the question of who can see the data. The second concerns which information is included and who validates it. The third introduces a business action that needs its own authorization. These are analytical examples of scope, not functions attributed to a Syntax implementation.

Syntax’s public GenAI offer describes a private tenant environment, data protection and anonymization components, and SAP and Oracle connections. It also accommodates local, private and public models. That flexibility broadens the commercial discussion about where information travels, which identity the agent uses and who accepts each step.

The data behind the story

### Companies in the panel used several routes into AI

Multiple responses. Panel selected for AI experience, not a sample of all Spanish companies. This is a 2024 reference, not a 2026 adoption estimate or a measure of Syntax customers or results. Use of an application does not establish its actual permissions.

__Companies in the panel used several routes into AI (%)__
| Category | Respondents |
| --------------------------- | ----------- |
| Public LLMs | 62% |
| Generative AI applications | 56% |
| Corporate platforms with AI | 49% |
| Code generation | 31% |

Deloitte’s 2024 Spain reference shows that these routes can coexist: 62% of the panel’s 100 technology and business leaders reported using public LLMs; 56% used generative AI applications; and 49% used corporate platforms with AI. The figures do not establish what permissions were granted or diagnose a Syntax risk. They help explain why an agreement should define the particular application and data rather than assume a uniform architecture.

The technical risk has an independent description in OWASP’s classification of excessive agency . It can arise from functionality, permissions or autonomy beyond what is needed. An application intended only to read documents does not also need to modify or delete them. OWASP recommends limiting capabilities and checking authorization in downstream systems.

The economic implication is specific. If a review enables the customer to authorize a useful process within controlled boundaries, security supports a purchasing decision. The deliverable can describe permitted access, blocked operations and changes that would require a new review. That work has a different value from promising that a model will stop making mistakes.

## Distinguishing included protection from the purchased extension

The security page distinguishes Foundation, Enhanced and Ultimate alongside advisory and managed services. It describes continuous monitoring and protection for identities, applications and networks among other capabilities. A commercial description is not itself a service-level agreement for every agent or integration.

A defensible extension therefore begins by reconciling the old scope with the new one. The buyer needs to understand what hosting covers, which parts of the process its own team already controls and which operations the AI deployment adds. The same activity should not be priced twice under different names. Where additional monitoring or support is included, the agreement should explain the environment it covers and who responds to an anomaly.

The data behind the story

### Compliance and risk lead the reported barriers

Multiple responses from the same 2024 panel. These are reported difficulties, not observed incidents or the probability of a breach. Percentages are not added together or interpreted as Spanish market shares.

__Compliance and risk lead the reported barriers (%)__
| Category | Respondents |
| -------------------------- | ----------- |
| Regulatory compliance | 46% |
| Risk management | 36% |
| Lack of a governance model | 31% |
| Lack of talent and skills | 23% |

In the same Spain panel, 46% identified regulatory compliance as a barrier, 36% identified risk management and 31% identified the lack of a governance model. These were difficulties reported in 2024 by leaders already involved in AI. They provide context for a purchase requiring coordination between business, technology and control functions, without establishing that a company needs a particular solution or that certification resolves every difficulty.

Pricing can separate an initial assessment from ongoing operation. The assessment establishes the system examined, the evidence used, exclusions and the conditions under which it could enter service. Ongoing operation defines what is subsequently monitored, how often access is reviewed and who coordinates a response. This proposed distinction helps the buyer assess different services without confusing a delivered report with permanent protection.

## The next agent does not automatically inherit the first agent’s approval

In its analysis of AI integration in SAP environments , Syntax warns about the cost of fragmenting pilots across different data foundations and recommends identifying the status of integrations. That argument brings continuity inside the service: a change of model, connection or source can alter an operation whose boundaries had previously been established.

For a recurring commercial relationship, the useful unit would be a process that remains authorized under known conditions. Customer and provider can agree which changes permit ordinary review and which require a fresh assessment. Expansion to another department would then have a reusable documentary foundation while keeping changes in data, permissions and responsibilities visible.

Measures of success need the same precision. Reviewing a process does not establish that losses have been prevented; counting alerts does not demonstrate reduced risk. Scope covered, outstanding decisions, time to authorization and adherence to response commitments can be recorded. Commercial value appears when that evidence helps the customer use a productive process with understandable obligations.

Syntax’s offer connects enterprise applications, agents and security management. Growth in that relationship depends on explaining the addition made by each purchase: which new action is enabled, which control accompanies it and who maintains that control. The difference between a useful extension and spending that is hard to defend lies in the customer being able to verify those three answers.
