# Booksy: the second appointment changes the cost of winning a client

In Spain, Boost applies an acquisition commission to the first visit. The establishment’s economics depend on what happens afterward and the service capacity the client occupies.

Booksy Boost charges a commission on the first visit of a client acquired through the service. Its Spanish conditions distinguish that payment from later appointments with the same client, which are outside this acquisition commission.

The distinction means two appointments at the same price can leave different contributions to the establishment. The first must absorb acquisition. The next keeps that amount while still consuming staff time and materials.

Digital beauty booking already appears in Spanish consumption, although it is not every user’s channel. In Statista Consumer Insights’ July 2024–June 2025 online survey, 14% of 2,740 participants aged 18–64 said they had booked beauty treatments online in the preceding twelve months. The category covers hair treatments, manicures and pedicures. Fitness and health services were cited by 16%. The comparison places channel use among personal services; it measures neither Booksy share, attendance nor repeat visits. Acquiring a reservation still leaves the business the task of turning it into a relationship it can serve.

## The first visit carries a cost that later disappears

The published rule uses 30% of the service price, with a €4 minimum plus VAT and a €50 maximum plus VAT. The document describes exceptions for free services accompanying another service with a sufficient commission. These are Spanish conditions, rather than a worldwide tariff.

The percentage has a specific meaning for an appointment business. Part of the initial revenue pays for access to a new client. The remaining contribution must cover serving that client before creating a result for the establishment.

The commission ceiling changes comparisons between services at different prices. The advertised percentage cannot compare every ticket: the cap lowers acquisition’s relative weight on higher amounts. That does not establish that they are better appointments; their duration and delivery cost also change.

## Repeat business needs to be measured in attended visits

The client’s value expands when they return to the establishment. A further appointment spreads the initial acquisition cost across a longer relationship. A new booking later canceled does not produce that economic effect.

Intending to purchase does not guarantee that return. The Cetelem barometer reproduced by Statista placed the proportion of Spanish adults who expected to buy personal treatments within the next three months at 11.4% in March 2026\. That edition surveyed 1,000 adults online between 28 February and 5 March. It covers physical and digital channels. The monthly series offers context on stated demand, without following a salon’s customers or establishing seasonality. Allocating Boost’s acquisition cost across appointments requires completed visits by the same customer, a different variable from that purchase expectation.

Booksy says the commission applies to actual visits and asks establishments to mark no-shows that same day to avoid the charge. Accurate attendance records connect salon operations with commercial cost. A calendar entry and a served customer are separate events.

The table avoids treating the price charged as profit. Acquisition commission is one part of an establishment’s calculation. Public documents do not disclose each salon’s costs or repeat business.

## The calendar limits which demand is worth attracting

The next acquisition investment also depends on which hours need filling. A new client occupying an available slot creates a different opportunity from one displacing an established customer’s appointment. Client origin alone does not resolve the distinction.

For Booksy, a convincing proposition should help the establishment recognize the journey: an attended first visit, a return and use of available hours. Selling promotion becomes more sustainable when the business sees the relationship it purchases as well as the acquisition cost.

The second appointment changes Boost’s economics because it no longer carries the same acquisition commission. Useful salon growth occurs when that continuity leaves a contribution and fits the calendar. More first visits have value when a serviceable business follows them.
